United Nations Sing Peace Event

On 21 September 2009, the United Nations hosted its annual International Day of Peace. Montessori schools from all over the globe joined together for a special project -- Sing Peace Around the World. Children from Montessori schools in countries from around the world sang the song "Light a Candle for Peace" one by one, country by country, time zone by time zone, until it traveled all the way around the earth. The song started in New Zealand and finished 24 hours later in the Hawaiian Islands! It was sung in over 20 languages and in all 24 time zones. Here are the students of Riverstone Montessori Academy on the day of the worst flooding that the Metropolitan Atlanta area has ever seen.
