In all classes, at all ages, the children learn to prepare, serve and clean-up their own snacks.   Riverstone students have access to healthy snacks throughout the day.  This eliminates hunger as a distraction to the education process and helps them to become more independent.

This also teaches children independent cooking skills that translate into real world applications.  Every classroom has a mini-kitchen containing the supplies necessary to cook and serve snack items.  Baking bread from scratch is a common classroom activity.  Vegetables grown in our gardens are used in baking and other methods of cooking.  Many students will try foods that they have been unwilling to taste because they are involved in both the growing and preparation of the food.
